VersionOne is pleased to present the results from the third annual ‘State of Agile Development’ survey. This year's survey is the most comprehensive yet — receiving over 2300 responses with a global reach of respondents from 80 countries.
The survey highlights some key aspects of Agile Development including:
- Teams practicing Agile Development are getting larger and more distributed.
- 32% of respondents are from development groups with over 250 people
- 76% of respondents are from development groups with over 20 people
- Agile development is delivering meaningful and measurable business results. Respondents reporting specific improvements greater than 10% include:
- Increased Productivity – 89% of respondents
- Reduced Software Defects – 84% of respondents
- Accelerated Time-to-Market – 82% of respondents
- Reduced Cost – 66% of respondents
Other key survey highlights include:
- The two most important reasons for adopting Agile were to:
- Accelerate time-to-market (22%)
- Enhance the ability to manage changing requirements (21%)
- The top two barriers to further adoption of Agile were:
- Ability to change organizational culture (45%)
- General resistance to change (44%)
