The new Environments Dashboard allows for quick identification of the contents in each environment easily detecting “what’s deployed where”. Also, new Manual Activities enhancements allow teams to define independent manual activities directly within Progression Configuration, and the new Project Creation Wizard allows users to easily and automatically set-up a new project within Continuum.
Fall 2017 Software Update Schedule
Lifecycle Team & Catalyst Editions
Lifecycle Enterprise & Ultimate Editions
VersionOne Lifecycle for Agile ALM
VersionOne Lifecycle for Agile ALM provides end-to-end enterprise agile lifecycle management that enables teams at all levels – enterprise, portfolio, program, and team — to collaborate and deliver software faster.
VersionOne Lifecycle + CollabNet TeamForge SCM
Lifecycle’s native version control system integration, CommitStream, now supports TeamForge SCM. Lifecycle users can now track code commits right within Lifecycle workitems and TeamRooms. VersionOne has made it easy for users who operate in more regulated industries and need more options with their source control management such as preventing the deletion of code, history protection, and code reviews.
Lifecycle users can now add tags on Portfolio Items, Stories, Defects and Test Sets, including managing tags. Managing tags is easy and provides teams greater flexibility to organize their backlogs using tags that are relevant to their perspective. Project Leads or System Administrators now have visibility into where there may be multiple instances of a tag that has been used throughout the system, for example, “admin”, “admin1”, or “admin2”. They can easily merge or edit the text to say “admin” on all records without having to use the API or manually update each asset. Administrators can also view all assets that have a tag, the total number of tags within a category including tags that are being used outside of their scope of work. This provides insight into other teams who are using the same tags; allowing teams and leads to make informed decisions before changing or merging tags.
Portfolio Item Dependencies
Enterprise & Ultimate Editions
Product teams can now identify feature dependencies earlier in the planning process when they are planning for future PI or product releases with the new Portfolio Item Dependency Relationship. Users can now set the dependencies directly between portfolio items avoiding the extra step of creating user stories and linking them to the portfolio item. The dependencies can be set at any level in the Portfolio Item hierarchy, which enables users to create dependencies between Capabilities, Epics, Initiatives, or any level in the hierarchy.
SAFe Program Board Updates
Now the Program Board facilitates cross-team coordination with date options to specify a cadence that does not depend on the iteration schedule being used by the Teams. This allows users to define a cadence to use when rolling up work from multiple teams. Users now have visibility into cross-team dependencies, regardless of the schedule being used by each Team in the Program Increment or Release.
SAFe Solution Board Updates
Users now have visibility of Portfolio Item delivery and significant upstream dependencies in a program defined in Lifecycle. This is a powerful way to group the connections in the planning hierarchy. Users now have visibility on cross-organizational dependencies and can filter by Program on the Solution Board allowing focus on critical delivery communication for a successful solution release.
The filter functionality has received more enhancements to improve the filtering experience. The number of fields available for filtering has doubled. And, there are now new relationship filters that allow a search between assets such as “created by” to easily search for backlog groups in the Portfolio Tree. Also, now that users can add a tag to Portfolio Items, Stories, Defects and Test Sets, the teams can filter by the newly created tags to quickly identify items and streamline workflows. Administrators can also apply filters to merge, clean-up or delete tags for clean consistent data within the platform.
The new Feature Guidance now allows on-site customers to leverage VersionOne’s expertise in guiding users to product capabilities that support their usage. Users will receive notifications about features that may be helpful to them to help optimize their processes and workflows. They will also receive other notifications such as when a new release is available or other general announcements – keeping all VersionOne customers informed.
VersionOne Continuum for DevOps
VersionOne Continuum™ is an enterprise-scale continuous delivery solution for accelerating the speed, reducing the risk, and ensuring the quality of complex software deployments.
VersionOne Continuum + CollabNet TeamForge
VersionOne Continuum now supports TeamForge SCM for Git and Subversion repositories. Teams using TeamForge SCM (17.11 and up) are now able to take advantage of all the benefits offered by Continuum to gain complete visibility into the flow of TeamForge artifacts through the various phases of development as well as metrics, automation, and much more.
Release, product and development managers are now better able to predict value delivery to end users with a Delivery Forecast available for each package revision in each phase of the progression board. The more deliveries the package undergoes, the more accurate the forecast will be in providing an accurate timeframe of when this value will be delivered to customers.
This new dashboard allows developers, testers and product managers to immediately view and identify “what’s deployed where”. This enables them to easily access the environments that contain the code they’re looking for while managing many concurrent projects and deployments.
Project Creation Wizard
Continuum users can now easily and efficiently set-up a new project within Continuum with the new Project Creation Wizard. This new feature automatically pairs the project with an existing code repository and configures the necessary webhooks in your VCS, removing the extra manual steps and time-consuming activities involved with creating new projects.
The progression design process is now streamlined by eliminating the need to create a dedicated pipeline for each manual step in the process. Continuum users can now create an independent manual activity within the Progression configuration screen when they are implementing their value stream with a Continuum Progression. Users are also notified when an activity has been started by another user but is not yet completed, eliminating duplicate effort.
