SPRING 2018 RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT
Unified Agile & DevOps:
Achieve End-to-End Visibility
The CollabNet VersionOne platform helps you accelerate software delivery and increase enterprise agility. The new and enhanced features of our products include:
VersionOne Lifecycle: Continuing the important theme of usability improvements in VersionOne Lifecycle, in the Spring 2018 Release we have added several features that will delight many of our users. Milestone dates can now be easily changed by dragging the Milestone on the Roadmap in either the Timeline or the Board view. Due to popular demand, users can now add items in place directly on all boards (TeamRoom, PlanningRoom, Storyboard). One click of the mouse, enter the title and the new item is placed on your board. Finally, we added the ability to drag items between swim lanes on both Storyboards and Epicboards (aka Portfolio Kanban), making this process quick and intuitive.
VersionOne Continuum: The Spring 2018 Release of VersionOne Continuum includes many new features and enhancements. Continuum now provides the ability to store configuration objects in the customer’s version control system. For auditors and compliance officers, Continuum offers summarized information on all the activities and controls applied to a package revision (software release). Continuum now has full support for Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services/Team Foundation Server (VSTS/TFS) ALM capabilities. And finally, when Continuum is integrated with TeamForge, users are able to specify tracker types used for value-add items (e.g. stories) and maintenance items (e.g. defects).
VersionOne Lifecycle for Agile ALM
VersionOne Lifecycle for Agile ALM provides end-to-end enterprise agile lifecycle management that enables teams at all levels—Enterprise, Portfolio, Program, and Team—to collaborate, develop, and deliver software faster.
The Spring 2018 Release of VersionOne Lifecycle includes the following usability improvements for Agile planning and tracking:
Vertical Drag Support for Storyboard Swim Lanes
Users can now drag items both horizontally and vertical between swim lanes. Swim lanes are used when the “group by” feature is configured. This allows for quick editing within the storyboard, rather than having to click on an asset and open it for editing. It saves time by removing the clicks and popups required.
Quick add story to board
A user in a VersionOne Lifecycle TeamRoom can now quickly add an asset, such as a story or defect, directly to their board. When an asset is created using the add feature in a TeamRoom, the fields required to show the asset on the storyboard are filled in automatically. Previously, after adding, a user would have to go find the story and fill in the proper fields to display the asset on the storyboard in a TeamRoom. “Where did my story go?” is a thing of the past.
Drag and Drop
The drag and drop experience for Milestones on the roadmap timeline has been enhanced. Other UX improvements have been added as well for visibility and interaction.
VersionOne Continuum for DevOps
VersionOne Continuum is an enterprise-scale continuous delivery solution for accelerating the speed, reducing the risk, and ensuring the quality of complex software deployments.
The Spring 2018 Release of VersionOne Continuum includes the following new features and enhancements
Configuration in Version Control
Continuum now provides the capability of exporting all its configuration objects so they can be stored in your version control system of choice. Exporting the new Continuum “catalog” will provide explicit objects for packages, pipelines, projects, and tasks. It will allow Continuum users to track changes with a higher level of detail as well as track author changes. This functionality can be used both to recover from ill-conceived changes, as well as a formal backup mechanism, allowing you to leverage the existing best practices around version control in your group.
Continuum’s package revision audit report provides summarized information on all the activities and controls applied to a package revision (software release), including relevant users, supporting documentation, links, commits, and workitems. It also provides auditors and compliance officers a centralized location with all the necessary information that shows a software release has been through the required steps, as specified by the administrator.
Continuum now offers full support for Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services/Team Foundation Server (VSTS/TFS) ALM capabilities. Continuum can track workitems (e.g. stories and defects) being tracked in VSTS/TFS and provide visibility and insights through the progression board and metrics dashboard.
When Continuum is integrated with TeamForge, users are able to specify tracker types used for value-add items (e.g. stories) and maintenance items (e.g. defects). This integration also enables Continuum to calculate “risk” metrics for a progression, as well as display different objects, to “improve” and “maintain” on the progression board.
